May 5-7 - Maui Rainbow and Mt. St. Helens crater

The last two days on Maui were dreary!  We woke to this rainbow on our next to last day...

 

After flying back to beautiful, dry, warm Seattle on May 6, I had an early flight to California on May 7.  What a change as that morning was very cloudy.  However, once we got above the clouds, all the beautiful mountains were visible!  Mt. Rainier and Mt.Adams were there but I was shooting directly into the sun :(

 

However, flying over the crater of Mt. St. Helens was a thrill!!



These two photos show where the lava flowed out of the crater - and the pretty fluffy clouds.

May 2 - The drive to Hana, Maui Part 2

Jan and I decided we really should get out and see some sights!  :)  For someone who usually drives a truck and camper, having a little car for this drive was quite fun.  52 miles one way takes 2 1/2 hours.  59 bridges of which 46 are one lane.  620 curves.  Then you turn around and drive back unless you want to take the long way around!

 This church was down in the 'valley' so we drove down.....a sign welcomed us - if we didn't live there, we didn't belong there.....okay

April 26 - 29 Maui, Hawaii, Part 1

I was lucky enough to be invited on this trip by my friend Jan, her daughter, son-in-law and 1 year old grandson, Brody. My plan was to drive to Seattle and fly from there. As the time approached, I just wasn't ready for the drive from California so I flew from Ontario, CA to Seattle. Jan and Brody picked me up at the Seattle airport and I spent the evening at Jan's. The shuttle picked us up at 4:30 a.m. Friday morning.
